Cecilia holds a Master of Counselling (Advanced) awarded by Swinburne University of Technology. She believes that individuals exist in systems which support, build or sometimes hurt - which is where she hopes to provide support and help in. Her warm and affable nature allows the therapeutic relationship with her clients to form swiftly for therapy to begin.
Her approach is integrative; largely depending on the personality of her clients and nature of their situations. She works on helping and empowering her clients in areas where they can effect personal change in order to influence or alter their situations.
As an adoptive parent, she has been giving talks, facilitating support groups and journeying with other adoptive families since 2008. She also has self-published a book titled “We Just Want You to Know”, to facilitate adoption disclosure and involved in several publications such as “Our Very Own” and “Our Very Own 2” - on the same topic. Since 2013 she has journeyed with birth families as well.
Incontact is the first counselling service I have ever engaged. Cecilia helped me by processing a tough year I had when I had to transition to becoming one of a few caregivers in the family, with family tensions at home during COVID.
After workplace rules started to relax and I went back to working in-person, I was on a project with challenging personalities. Cecilia explored some coping mechanisms with me. Overall, I feel that Cecilia heard my concerns, and offered advice to let me see things from a different perspective. Cecilia also offered feedback on actions I can take to cope with challenges in life. As I apply the learnings to my life in the meanwhile, I will revisit Incontact if I ever need more help to cope with challenges in life.
Due to Covid CB and lack of contacts with her peers, my 11 year old girl who is usually cheerful and cheeky, suddenly had a couple of anxiety attacks. I was helpless during the next two days when she experienced palpitation, breathless, cold sweat and loss of appetite especially during night time. And she started to worry over the smallest things. So I searched up for possible video therapy, and found Cecilia Yee from “In Contact Therapy”. After two sessions, my girl is back to her normal self.
My deepest gratitudes to Cecilia for empowering my girl with techniques to handle her anxiety. I am glad we started early so she can walk out of her blue so soon.
Thank you, Cecilia! CC”
“Thank you for taking time to journey with me. I really appreciate it. I feel so much better after our session. ~ Gladys”
I engaged with Cecilia through my company’s Employee Assistance Program. I was suffering within related to a close relationship at home. I am generally a calm person and self aware about a lot of my issues and troubles. However, a friend recommended I still give therapy a try.
I am so glad I did. It was one of my best decisions this year.
I was with Cecilia for about 4 months (~ 6-8 sessions) . I believe that one should have a good connect with one’s therapist and only then can the therapy help us. I am so grateful it was such a good relationship I could develop with Cecilia since she is a very good listener. Cecilia made me comfortable effortlessly. She would ask meaningful questions and provide meaningful insights after my talking. I really enjoyed learning about general psychology as well which Cecilia shared with me. It was quite insightful to know what goes on through our minds , how we perceive things and how our minds can really cause our suffering.
By the end of all the sessions, I could take little steps to solve the problem I started therapy for. I am so so grateful that I feel much at ease with my situation now. Thanks a lot Cecilia 💙
