Counsellor in Training
Michelle is a Counsellor in Training currently pursuing her Master of Counselling with Monash University alongside her full-time professional role. Her experience across social service settings has shaped her understanding of the pressures people may face in their work, relationships, caregiving responsibilities and different stages of life.
Michelle believes that therapy is a collaborative process. She understands that reaching out for support can itself take courage and aims to provide a safe, respectful space where clients can be themselves, explore what matters to them and work towards changes that feel meaningful.
Her approach is person-centred and collaborative, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) according to each client’s individual needs and goals.

Having experienced therapy herself, Michelle understands that counselling is not simply about addressing what may be going wrong. It can also be an opportunity to understand yourself more deeply and make sense of thoughts, emotions and patterns that may feel difficult to untangle alone.
She recognises that beginning therapy can feel unfamiliar or vulnerable. Her intention is to meet clients with openness and respect, allowing them to explore their experiences without feeling pressured to have everything figured out.
Michelle sees clients as active participants in the counselling process. Rather than assuming that one approach will work for everyone, she works collaboratively with each person to understand what matters to them, identify their needs and explore different ways of moving forward.
By drawing on person-centred therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Michelle adapts the counselling process to each client’s goals. She hopes to help clients develop greater clarity, recognise patterns that may no longer serve them and take meaningful steps towards the life they want to build.
Michelle’s experience in social service settings has given her insight into the different pressures people may carry across their personal and professional lives. These may include workplace demands, relationship difficulties, caregiving responsibilities or the uncertainty that can accompany major life transitions.
Outside of counselling, Michelle enjoys spending time outdoors. After completing her studies, she hopes to continue contributing to the community through volunteer work in rehabilitation settings.
