Organisations are inherently vulnerable to crises, be it internal crisis or external crisis. Having to work with people who have a wide range of perspectives can cause a lot of pressure. Many types of crises can affect organisations and their people, including suicide, retrenchment, internal conflict and even natural disasters. With no prepared crisis response, organisations can suffer adverse side effects including shock to the employees and loss of trust in the organisation during moments of crisis. Fortunately, these issues can be prevented or attenuated if an organisation makes use of an efficient crisis response system. Incontact’s Employee Assistance Programme includes Crisis Intervention Services that work together with organisations to develop a protocol to manage crises and help members of the organisation.
Incontact’s crisis intervention services are an aspect of our Employee Assistance Programme. Crisis management is a preemptive response focusing on how to deal with the effects of a crisis as opposed to avoiding crises in general. Crisis intervention helps the affected individuals process traumatic events and explore coping strategies, so as to lessen the risk of longstanding psychological trauma.
People going through a crisis undergo large amounts of psychological stress, which can lead to mental health conditions like anxiety and depression. Crisis intervention helps to alleviate stress and lessen the risk of developing these conditions, and can also be used to treat individuals currently suffering from one. In the workplace context, crisis intervention can help to attenuate the negative effects of a crisis on work efficiency through offering emotional support or otherwise lessening the distress of affected employees.
In times of crisis, employees will have greater faith in the organisation that chooses to engage the best possible interventions. Seeking our crisis intervention services can help preserve your reputation and attenuate long term damage to the organisational brand when crises occur.
Our counsellors are all trained in the NOVA Community Crisis Response Team training. The NOVA CCRT program has been training crisis response teams in evidence based and field tested practices for both smaller scale and mass casualty crisis management since 1986. NOVA CCRT-trained responders can provide crisis intervention, education and emotional first aid in the aftermath of a critical incident. The NOVA CCRT model is a person-centered approach that has been proven to work and is utilised all over the world by a wide range of teams in various situations, from tribal communities to first responders.
If you want to collaborate with Incontact to create more resources and awareness on mental health within your organisation, fill up our EAP Consultation form and book an appointment now.
We offer Crisis Intervention Services as a standalone service outside of our EAP as well. For more details on cost and process, please contact us.
Our counsellors are accredited by the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). All our counsellors are also NOVA CCRT certified and professionally trained in a wide range of therapeutic modalities to help you with issues like grief, burnout, depression, anxiety and workplace stress.
