Mental health awareness in Asia’s workplace culture is going through an evolution. The corporate space is seeing more appreciation for mental health as well as an advancement in organisational mental health wellbeing through the cultural barriers being broken by organisations and their senior leadership. More and more organisations are starting to provide mental health benefits for employees that match physical health benefits. Incontact’s workplace wellness programmes are an aspect of our Employee Assistance Programme where we aim to foster a deeper understanding of the intricacies of mental health. These are more extensive compared to our Lunch Talks; generally they will be experiential workshops or seminars that deal with specific topics and skills such as managing stress or training managers to be aware of certain mental health issues in their subordinates, lasting about half a day and in smaller groups.
The longer nature of these wellness workshops allows for a deeper level of psychological knowledge and skills to be acquired. Our therapists are then able to go more in depth in educating employees about alternative ways to heal and live that might be better suited for any issues they might be facing or will face in the future. More time can also be devoted to experiential group activities that will better instill good mental health habits.
